Why I Write…

Sometimes, when I sit and realise the sheer amount of time and work that I put into writing on top of my day job, it can often feel soooo overwhelming! I just recorded my IG stories for the day and I was jumping between the short story I’m editing, how I find comp authors to tweak my BookBub ads, and stalking my author proof copy of RISE OF ONE that’s on the way.

It can seem like a lot and I’ve had plenty of people ask why I even bother. I can’t explain it any other way than… well, these stories come to me, into my little head, and if I don’t write them down then the characters and their adventures will be lost. Plus, nobody is going to publish a five-book series about #vampires versus #zombies in an #apocalypse, even if I have won awards & residencies for my #poetry – that does not a successful fiction author make that an agent or traditional publisher will take a chance on!

So, I go down this path instead, of indie publishing, of setting up my own imprint, Thunderloft Press, of doing it on top of the day job. I really like being so busy and I can’t wait to hold my author copy in my hands! Roll on 15th December!
