Overcoming Struggle.

The quotation that I decided on for BLOOD BRUTE's first book, RISE OF ONE, is from a poem by Theodore Roethke called ROOT CELLAR. He describes that dirt itself always keeps on breathing - this is a significant theme in not just the novel, but also in my own life and getting to the point of actually writing the BLOOD BRUTE series.

Readers of RISE OF ONE will understand the significance of a root cellar in the novel: a place to hide, a place for solitude and learning, for storing of produce as protection against tougher days. And some days, if a struggle is too big when it lands on your doorstep, it's quite okay to hide out in your root cellar, whatever that looks like, until you've recuperated enough to tackle what faces you.

We all just gotta keep breathing that small breath.
